Prepare Yourself With A Survival Kit
You never know when a disaster might hit your area, and if it does, you have to be as prepared as you possibly can be. Some areas are more prone to disaster than others such as, California with its earthquakes or Kansas with its tornadoes. However, you can be anywhere in the world when mother nature takes a turn for the worst and if you are not ready for what she has in store, then you’re just simply out of luck. Knowing what to have in stock in your home is what is essential when planning for such a predicament.
Putting together a survival kit is a great way to go about doing this. In a survival kit there should be, needles and thread, paper cups, plates and plastic utensils, non-electric can opener, cash and/or travelers checks, fire extinguisher, waterproof matches, hammer, duct tape, candles, cooking stove and fuel, extra batteries, utility knife, roll twine and any more common household items that you think would be beneficial. Aside from those items, there are so many more things you have to remember about when preparing for a disaster. Every person in the household should have at least another pair of clothing and shoes readily available, blankets and sleeping bags, raingear, hats and gloves.
If you have babies in your family, you want to make sure you remember bottles, diapers, formula and any medication that is crucial to your baby’s health. For adults, make sure not to forget any prescription medications, denture needs, eye glasses, or heart and blood pressure medication. Food is an obvious need that everyone should make sure they have enough of. Canned goods and anything that will keep for a long period of time are your best bet. Everyone should make sure that they have an emergency kit ready to go no matter how much you think that a “disaster” will not strike your area. Being prepared will only pay off in the end so make your survival kit today.
